Mindy Cohen

Mindy Robin Cohen of Ferndale, NY, a retired Registered Nurse and a long-time area resident, died Tuesday May 11, 2021 at her home. Her battle with Behavioral Variant Frontotemporal Dementia came to an end at the age of 61.

The daughter of the late Murray and Gloria Cooper Cohn, she was born December 16, 1959 in Manhattan, NY.

Mindy was a graduate of Monticello High School and the Sullivan County Community College Nursing Program and started her career at the Center for Discovery and after 10 years worked at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center and later at the Catskill Regional Medical Center. She was a member of the New York State Nurses Association and she was registered with the Frontotemporal Dementia Association.

Mindy had a vibrant laugh and was spontaneous. She stood by her principles with a high degree of integrity; her family is forever grateful for her eagerness to provide for those around her.

Survivors include her husband, David Cohen, at home; one daughter, Melissa Cohen and her companion Jeromy M. Jaggars of N.E. PA; three sons, Daniel Cohen of Liberty, NY, Phillip Cohen of Liberty, NY and his companion Dana Arbusto of Wappingers Falls, NY and Michael Cohen of Liberty, NY and his companion Mya Smith of Montgomery, NY; one brother, Michael Cohn and his wife Brenda of Harris, NY; niece, Samantha Cohn; and some loving uncles, aunts, and cousins.

She was predeceased by her parents.

Visitation will be Friday, May 14, 2021 from 11 AM to 1 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

Funeral services will be Friday, May 14, 2021 at 1 PM in the funeral home.  Rabbi Jamie Serber will officiate.

Burial will be in the Liberty Cemetery, Liberty, NY.
