Ola M. Yannetta

Ola Marion Stager Yannetta of Sullivan County, NY a life long area resident, died Tuesday, June 25, 2024 at Middletown Park Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Middletown, NY. She was 95.

The daughter of the late Burton and Mary Montroy Woodcock, she was born October 31, 1928 in Morristown, NY.

Ola graduated from Heuvelton High School in 1947; she worked at DePeyster General Store for two years before moving to Letchworth Village where she worked until she married George Stager in 1951 in Haverstraw, NY. They had five children, two deceased at an early age, Donna Jean and George William, Jr.; together they raised three daughters Sandy, Pennie and Candy. Ola began working at the Nyack Manor Nursing Home in 1971 and retired in 1987. She moved to Sullivan County in 1989 when George passed away.  Ola volunteered at the Fallsburg Library for a few years and belonged to the Woodridge Seniors Citizens. She married Joseph D. Yannetta in 2000; and he predeceased her in 2013.

Survivors include her daughters, Sandy Jones and her husband Bill of Middletown, NY, Pennie Mercado and her husband Geno of Loch Sheldrake, NY and Candy Zimmerman and her husband John of KY; four grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her first husband, George Stager in 1989; her second husband, Joseph Yannetta in 2013; one grandson, George Mercado; one son, George William Stager, Jr; one daughter, Donna Jean Stager; and seven siblings.

Visitation will be Friday, June 28, 2024 from 9-11 AM in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY. Funeral services will begin at 11 AM in the funeral home. Pastor Joseph LeConey will officiate.

Graveside services and burial will be in Mt. Repose Cemetery, Haverstraw, NY on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 1:30 PM.
