Peter R. Bayer

Peter Bayer of Liberty, NY, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2024 surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. 

The son of the late Arthur K. and Irene Muth Bayer, he was born July 18, 1958 in Poughkeepsie, NY.

Peter is a graduate of John Jay High School in Wappingers Falls, NY. After high school, Peter enlisted in the United States Air Force and proudly served our country from 1976  to 1980. Peter attended SUNY Cortland where he met his wife, Mary. He worked as an operations manager in Maybrook, NY.  Peter enjoyed woodworking, metal detecting, spending time at the lake and his beloved pets and JETS. Most of all, Peter enjoyed spending quiet times at home with his family.  

Survivors include his wife, Mary, of 34 years; his three children, Michael and his wife Meaghan Bayer of Monticello, NY, Rachel and her husband Marshon Williams of Liberty, NY, and Christopher Bayer of Liberty, NY; two grandchildren, Luca Bayer and Viviana Williams; one nephew, Robert Cushing; as well as many loved relatives both here and in Germany and many friends.

He was predeceased by one sister, Marianne Cushing. 

In keeping with his wishes, the funeral will be a private ceremony with only close family members present.
