Richard Murray

Richard Murray, affectionately known to all as "Rich," was born in Harlem, New York, to his beloved parents, the late Edward Luther Murray and Virginia Capers Murray. Rich spent his early years attending school in Brooklyn, New York, before moving to South Carolina. He worked as a skilled butcher, a job he took great pride in and truly loved. Rich possessed a vibrant spirit of adventure—he traveled often and enjoyed every moment of his journey. Above all, he LOVED to cook, deriving immense joy from knowing everyone enjoyed his delicious food. While living in South Carolina, Rich fully embraced the life of a country boy. He spent his time hunting wild game and cooking his catch, famous for asking family and friends with a smile, "You ever tasted gator? Or frog legs?" In 2013, Rich relocated from New York City to Liberty, New York, to be with his family. There, he gained a cherished extended family and a wide circle of close friends. A uniquely creative soul, Rich was well known for his original paintings and hand-crafted jewelry. He joined First Baptist Church where he was baptized, looked forward to Sunday services, and was welcomed with open arms. Today we say our farewells to Richard. We never say goodbye, because we know that in God's time, we will see one another again.
