Richard Webler

Richard Norman Webler of Downsville, NY passed away at his home on Wednesday February 1, 2023.  He was 89.

Dick was the son of the late Edward and Nellie Johnson Webler.  He was born on July 30, 1933 in Tacoma, MD.

Dick was a 1951 graduate of Bradford Academy in Vermont.  He served our country in the US Navy from 1951 to 1954.  He then attended the University of Vermont from 1955 to 1959.  His teaching career included the agriculture curriculum in the Franklin and Treadwell schools.  After earning his Master’s degree in Guidance from Oneonta, he served as the Guidance Counselor at the Downsville Central School from 1967 until his retirement in 1991.  He married Joyce Doig Butcher in 1986, she predeceased him April 23, 2022.

Survivors include his children, Fay (Ken) Atkinson of Bradenton, FL, Melody (Steve) Alexander of Indianapolis, IN, Keith (Mary Ellen) Webler of Fall River, MA, and Tory (Denise) Webler of Walton, NY; his step-children, Stacey Mattson of Downsville, NY, Mark (Julie) Butcher of Downsville, NY, Rebecca (John) DeBarros of Paradise Valley, AZ, and Robert (Lisa) Butcher of East Long Meadow, MA; and his 19 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Dick was predeceased by his parents and his siblings Edward, William, Gerald, and Lois.

Private burial will be in the spring at Paige Cemetery, Downsville, NY.
