Ronald J. McGrath, Sr. of Livingston Manor, NY, a retired Law Enforcement Officer and small business owner, passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side on Monday, November 27, 2017.
The son of the late Matthew and Mary McNulty McGrath, he was born November 13, 1946 at home in Yonkers, NY. Ronald was a former member and past president of the Liberty Chamber of Commerce. His greatest and proudest accomplishment was being a husband, father, and grandfather; each held a special place in his heart. He especially enjoyed fishing with the kids and grandkids; and gardening. He was a lifelong Dallas Cowboys fan and loved to play chess. He loved to engage everyone in conversation on any topic. His kids and grandkids called him “Daddy Historical” because of his love for his Country, his Irish heritage history, and his knack for storytelling.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 48 years, Suzanne L. Panzer McGrath, at home; three sons, Ronald J. McGrath, Jr., NY, Kevin S. McGrath, and John Patrick McGrath, Sr., all of Livingston Manor, NY; one daughter, Jennifer Lee Duernberger and her husband Donald of Middletown, NY; five grandchildren, Joseph Duernberger, Elizabeth Duernberger, John Patrick McGrath, Jr., Michael Morgan McGrath and Kara Ann McGrath; a sister-in-law, Patricia Panzer; and several beloved nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 1, 2017 at 11 AM in St. Aloysius Church, 22 Church Street, Livingston Manor, NY.
