Russell W. Constant of Roscoe, NY a lifelong area resident, passed away Thursday, May 11, 2023 at his home. He was 72.
The son of the late Robert and June Caston Constant, he was born March 28, 1951 in Ellenville, NY.
Russell retired as a Correctional Officer after 32 years of service from Ulster Correctional Facility, Napanoch, NY; after retirement, he worked at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts from the time it opened until 2021; he was a past board member of the Roscoe Free Library; a past member of the Roscoe Theater Group; and a member of the Sons of the American Legion. Russ was in the 20th Century Limited Marching Band, the Imperial Guardsman and the Baritone Quartet. He was a former member of the Neversink Beagle Club, Liberty, NY and a former Little League Coach. Russ was very patriotic and was a proud supporter of our troops and country.
Russ loved watching Jeopardy, solving Crossword Puzzles and playing any trivia game. He was a great storyteller and was always happy to share stories of his past adventures and family. He loved watching the New York Yankees and his knowledge of baseball was unbeatable.
Above all, Russ loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and he would do anything for them. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include the love of his life, devoted wife of 45 years, Lillian Constant, at home; his daughter, Jaclyn Day and her husband Darin of Cooks Falls, NY; his son, Christopher Constant and his wife Kendra of Liberty, NY; his grandchildren, Brody Day, Lauren Day, Grace Constant, Eleanor Constant, and Margaret Constant; his brothers, Richard Constant of Greenfield Park, NY, Jeffrey Constant and his wife Penny of Neversink, NY and Gary Constant and his fiancée Janet DeChick of Queensbury, NY; his nieces and nephews, Heather, Jason, Rachel and Jesse; his Mother-In-Law, Lucy Padilla of Accord, NY; Sisters-In-Law, Linda Hostelley of Rehobeth Beach, DE, Lisa Padilla-Hansen and her husband Bruce of Accord, NY, Laura Padilla-Battaglino and her husband Frank of Owings, MD; and nieces and nephews; Eric, Louis, Alexandra, Frank Jr, Gabriel and Anthony (Godson) and many more nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and one sister-in-law, Charlene Constant, His father in law Louis Padilla and brother in law, Louis Padilla Jr.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 4 to 7 PM in the Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Ave. Roscoe, NY.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 10 AM at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 40 Market Street, Ellenville, NY. Father Jeff Golliher and The Rev. Bridgette LeConey will officiate.
Burial will be in Fantinekill Cemetery, Ellenville, NY.
Memorial contributions in his name may be made to Tunnel to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, NY 10306 or to a charity of one’s choice.
