Russell G. Peters, Jr.

Russell G. Peters, Jr. of Hortonville, NY, a retired farmer and a lifelong area resident died Monday, October 12, 2026 at the Garnet Health Hospital in Middletown, NY. He was 95.

The son of the late Russell G., Sr. and Florence Wood Peters, he was born July 17, 1931 in Callicoon, NY.

Russell had worked on his farm with his family for many years and later was a truck driver for Gasko & Meyer, Inc. in Lake Huntington, NY. He enjoyed hunting.

Survivors include three daughters, Cindy Lee Barnes and her companion Hank Danelli of PA, Debbie Jane Tuttle of PA, and Rosemary Peters of Jeffersonville, NY; three sons, Craig Peters and his wife Bettie of NC, Gary Peters and his wife Nancy of Callicoon, NY and Steven Peters of Hortonville, NY; his grandchildren Joshua Barnes, Todd Barnes, Kelly (Ryan) Vinton, Jason (Lauren) Hornung, Joseph (Shannon) Hornung, Dale “DJ” Tuttle, Jr. (Tegan Carter), Corey Tuttle (Shelby Milewski), Shaun (Bobbie Sue) Peters, Ryan Peters, Scott (Lauren) Peters, Michael Peters, Charlotte (Jacob) Schwartz, Catherine (David) Kusicki, Henry Peters, Anthony Barotti, Bryan (Kayla) Lopez, and William Lopez. Her great-grandchildren Brady Barnes, Ryan Vinton, Logan Vinton, Evan Hornung, Dayla Jones, Emma Hornung, Paisley Tuttle, Ryland Carter, Robbie Lee Carter, Ruby Peters, Keith Peters, Taylor Brantlee, Braxton Peters, Kaylie Peters, Mylie Peters, Reagan Peters, London Peters, Hampton Peters, Murphy Peters, Warren Schwartz, Nathan Schwartz, Tyler Schwartz, Miles Kusicki, Colin Kusicki, Christopher Barotti, Samantha Barotti, Luna Lopez, Enzo Lopez, and Cruz Lopez.

He was predeceased by his wife of 75 years, Evelyn E. Peters; and two brothers, Donald Peters and Burgess Peters.

Visitation will be Thursday, October 15, 2026 from 11 AM to 12 Noon in the Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY. Funeral services will begin at 12 Noon in the funeral home. Pastor Joseph LeConey will officiate. Burial will follow in Heavenly Rest Cemetery, North Branch, NY.
