Shirleen R. Hujus Farmen, 72, of Downsville,NY passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026 at Mercy House of the Southern Tier in Endicott, NY.
Shirleen was born on July 25, 1953 to Richard E. and Shirley Cross Hujus, in Otisville, NY.
Two years after graduation from Minisink Valley Central School, Shirleen enlisted in the United States Air Force where her title was Administrative Specialist. After her Honorable Discharge, Shirleen obtained her Associates Degree from Mineral Area College in Flat River Missouri.
Truly a hard worker, she worked as a diastolic technician in Middletown, and then as a groundskeeper and custodian at Minisink Valley Central School, from which she retired.
Shirleen was an artist. Her many paintings are cherished by her family members. She enjoyed creating her art in images of nature and she enjoyed gardening and the companionship of her dog, Leo.
Shirleen was a devout Christian. Her faith helped her through times of difficulty and during her illness.
She was predeceased by her parents, Richard E. and Shirley Hujus, siblings Mildred G., John E., Lester J., and a niece, Carrie Hujus.
Surviving family members include James R. Hujus (Carol) of Slate Hill, NY, Lorraine Ray (Matthew), of Downsville, NY, Thelma Hujus of Downsville NY, Ruthetta Consiglio (Joe), of Highland Lake, NY, and Richard E. Hujus (Colleen) of South Carolina. Several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Also Aunt Patricia Lord and Aunt Lorraine Judy Cross Conklin.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026 from 2PM to 4PM at Harris Funeral Home, Railroad Avenue Roscoe, NY. Funeral service to follow.
ln lieu of flowers, donations to Mercy house of the Southern Tier would be appreciated for their outstanding care given to Shirleen and her caregivers. Mercy House of the Southern Tier 212 North McKinley Ave, Endicott, NY 13760.
