Shirley A. Calkin

Shirley A. Calkin of Livingston Manor, NY, a retired Licensed Phlebotomist and a lifelong area resident died peacefully Monday, June 2, 2025 at the Garnet Health Medical Center, Harris, NY. She was 76.

The daughter of the late Russell H. and Katherine E. Brown Klein, she was born August 26, 1948 in Liberty, NY.

Shirley is a former member of the White Sulphur Springs Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, and outdoor activities.

Survivors include two daughters, Britt Haas and her husband Matthew of Delmar, NY and Kara Keller and her husband Edwin Batchelder of Schaghticoke, NY; two brothers, Barry Klein and his wife Kathy of White Sulphur Springs, NY and Gary Klein and his wife Sandy of White Sulphur Springs, NY; a sister, Kim Carlsen and her husband Kurt of Grahamsville, NY; two grandsons, Jared and Aden; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a dear friend and caregiver, Valeria Bischert.

She was predeceased by her sister, Virginia Ferber; three brothers, Melvin “Dickie” Klein, Carl Klein, and Kelvin Klein; and a grandson, Colby Batchelder.

Visitation will be Monday, June 9, 2025 from 10 AM-12 Noon in the Harris Funeral Home West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.

Funeral services will be Monday, June 9, 2025 at 12 Noon in the funeral home. Pastor Joseph LeConey will officiate.

Memorial contributions in Shirley’s name may be made to the White Sulphur Springs Fire Department, P. O. Box 86, White Sulphur Rd, White Sulphur Springs, NY 12787.

Dignified cremation will be provided by the Harris Crematorium, LLC.
