Susan E. Kohler left this life on July 12, 2025 at Garnet Health Medical Center, Middletown, NY. She always had a wonderful sense of humor and a contagious laugh. We miss her.
The daughter of the late Earl M. and Gertrude Smith Kohler, she was born June 10, 1945 in Dayton, OH. Susan grew up in Jeffersonville, NY, where she enjoyed softball and driving her Dad's jeeps. After graduating H.S., she attended SUNY Oneonta, where she received her BA. She taught High School English in the Poughkeepsie City School District.
After retirement, Susan moved back to the area where she grew up. She was an active and contributing member of her community. She was a member of the Youngsville Reformed Church, the NYS Teacher's Retirement System, and the Youngsville Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Susan collected, sorted, and organized books for the library sales and also sold books online for the library. Her love and knowledge of books was amazing.
For many years, Susan and Nancy spent part of the winter in Myrtle Beach, SC, where family and friends were always welcome to come share their condo, their food, their shopping, the beach, and especially their stories and laughter.
She is survived by her sister, Nancy A. Kohler of Youngsville, NY, and cousins Janet (Charles) Brower of Fairbanks, AK, James (Susan) Dolan of Lock Haven, PA, Sally (Ronald) Thomas of Paris, IN, Patricia Mullen of Highland, NY, Jane (Frank) Hodi of Budapest, Hungary, Patricia (Anthony) Sentochnik of Melvin Village, NH, and Linda (Clay) Clement of Campbell Hall, NY.
Friends and Family are invited to come and celebrate Sue's life at 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at the Youngsville Firehouse.
