Tina Maria Knapp, of Liberty, NY, a longtime area resident, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, February 28, 2026. She was 64.
Born April 12, 1961 in Dumont, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Wesley and Carol Landolphi Wallgren. The oldest of eight siblings, Tina naturally became the family matriarch at a young age, a role she carried with strength, humor, and love throughout her life. She graduated from Liberty High School, Class of 1979, and was once proudly crowned Miss White Sulphur Springs.
Tina was known for her strong work ethic and big heart. She began working at a young age to help support her family and later worked locally at ShopRite and Tractor Supply in Liberty. No matter where she was, she was always someone others could count on.
She loved life’s simple comforts. Watching old movies from her VHS collection, cooking big batches of homemade marinara sauce, and enjoying quiet nights at home with her beloved cats. If you knew Tina, you knew how giving she was. She would give you the shirt off her back, cook you a hot meal, fill your fridge, and make sure you were okay before worrying about herself.
Tina was deeply spiritual and strong in her faith. Her greatest joy was her family, especially her seven treasured grandchildren Peyton, Landon, Connor, Jacob, Brooklyn, Castiel, and Giovanni whom she lovingly called her “grand-jewels.”
She is survived by her loving daughters, Christine Maushardt and her husband Charles, Jr. of Old Tappan, NJ, and Ashley Knapp and her companion Jonathon Cruz of Middletown, NY; her cherished grandchildren; her brother, Vincent Wallgren and his wife Susie of Liberty, NY; her sisters, Lisa Andryshak of Sullivan County, NY, Sonja Baez of Walnut Port, PA, and Yvonne Wallgren of Trenton, NJ; her sister-in-law, Mary Wallgren; and her aunts, Evelyn Babich and Lucille Wallgren of NJ.
She was predeceased by her parents; her siblings Wes Wallgren, Wendy Delpozza, and Jack Wallgren; and her uncles Mel Wallgren and Bobby Petersen.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 9, 2026, from 5 to 8 PM at Harris Funeral Home, West St. at Buckley, Liberty, NY.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at 10:30 AM at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Liberty, NY, with Father Edward Bader officiating. Inurnment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery.
