Versa Amback

Versa M. Amback of Roscoe, NY a retired legal secretary for the Law Office of Michael McGrady in Callicoon, NY and a lifelong area resident, died Sunday, October 23, 2022 at the Roscoe Regional Rehabilitation and Residential Health Care Facility in Roscoe, NY.  She was 94.

The daughter of the late Elwood and Gertrude Marie Muranie Cross, she was born September 18, 1928 in Mountaindale, NY.

Versa was a member of the United Church of Roscoe where she had been active in Church activities, she had been an assistant Kindergarten Teacher.  For many years, she and her late husband James, owned and operated the Roscoe Movie Theater.  She had been a member of Cornell Cooperative Extension and had been a former 4-H leader.

Survivors include one daughter, Beverly Hesse and her husband Joseph of Roscoe, NY; one son, Roy Amback and his wife Ellen of Livingston Manor, NY; six grandchildren, Mimi Warren, Audrey Wheeler, Heidi Hesse, Charles Amback, Liesl Burnham and James Hesse; 13 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She was predeceased by her husband, James Amback on March 20, 2016; by four brothers and two sisters.

Visitation will be Friday, October 28, 2022 from 10 AM-12 Noon in the Harris Funeral Home Railroad Ave., Roscoe, NY.

Funeral services will be Friday, October 28, 2022 at 12 Noon in the funeral Home.  The Rev. Christine Lindeberg will officiate.

Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery, Roscoe, NY.
