Warren Gorton, best known as “Zeke” or “Blondie” of Jeffersonville, NY formerly of White Sulphur Springs, NY, a retired Corrections Officer in Woodbourne and a lifelong area resident, died Tuesday, February 24, 2026 in Poughkeepsie, NY. He was 89.
The son of the late Vernon and Marjorie Benton Gorton, he was born September 2, 1936 in Liberty, NY.
Zeke served in the US Army from 1957-1959. He married Marjorie Niemann on May 7, 1961. He retired after 32 years as NYS Corrections Officer. He was a member of the WSS Fire Department for 61 years, was the past president for AFSCME Council 82, and was the founding member of the Dirty Dozen Hunting Club.
Zeke enjoyed family gatherings, hunting, camping trips, bowling, and his go to: Scotch and Water.
Survivors include his wife Marjorie of 64 years; sons, Forrest Gorton and his wife Linda and Dwayne Gorton; grandsons Craig Gorton and his wife Denise, Kyle Raymond and Cody Raymond; granddaughters Deanna Gorton and Angela Citro; great grandson Braydon Greene; sister June Tillson; brothers Roy, Doug, Clair, Keith, and Gail; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, brother, Wesley Gorton, grandson, Anthony Citro, brother in laws, Ed Tillson, The Niemann Boys- Donald, Sam, William, Robert, and Norman, Russell Van Loan Sr., Charlie Gorr, Robert Boyle, and George Rankin.
Memorial gathering will be Saturday, March 14, 2026 from 11 AM to 2 PM in the White Sulphur Springs Fire Hall, 3352 SR 52, WSS, NY 12787. Please join the family with casual attire as refreshments will be served throughout the gathering.
