William J. Fendsack

William J. Fendsack, 83, of Myrtle Beach, SC, formerly of Norwich, NY passed away on Sunday, September 2, 2026 after a battle with cancer.

William was born on April 10, 1943 to Alice and William Fendsack in Carbondale, Pa. After graduating from Liberty Central High School in 1960, he went on to study at Albany Business College.

After graduation, he joined the US Navy for four years. Upon the end of his enlistment he came to Norwich and started his career with Victory Markets, Great American food stores. He held the position of Vice President, transportation until the company closed. Upon leaving he held other management transportation positions, namely; with AWI wholesale Foods, Price Chopper food stores, and Alliant foodservice. While in Norwich he was Vice President of the Chenango County stop DWI, and involved with the local chamber of commerce for the upgrading of route 12. He was a life member of the Elks and a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic church

He is survived by his wife Cynthia, three children, Kelli (Phil Curley), of Norwich, William of Poland, NY, Brian of Troy, NY. Also, he is survived by five grandchildren, four step-grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

During his retirement he continued his interest in traveling driving with his wife, Cindy all forty-eight states and some Provinces of Canada, including the Atlantic Provinces, and Pacific Provinces. In addition to his personal touring of the United States by car, after retirement he became a bus driver for Greyhound, and upon retirement in Myrtle Beach continued driving bus for Sunway Charters. This gave him and his wife Cindy the opportunity to see much more of the country as she was his companion on many trips. They also had a camper which they had located in the Adirondacks for use in the summer and to be closer to their families.

William was also a golfer and resided with his wife in a home on a golf course in Myrtle Beach, SC, and was on the course as much as possible.

Anyone who knew Bill knew that he was a loving father and husband.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be given to the Norwich American Cancer Society or the Norwich Hospice.

Graveside services will be private.
