William Stoddard, Jr.

William H. Stoddard, Jr.  a lifelong resident of Liberty, NY and the retired owner of Stoddard Paving Corp. died Thursday, April 2, 2020 at Vassar Brothers Hospital in Poughkeepsie, NY.  He was 65.

Survived by his wife of 38 years, Joan, son Matthew (Gianni), daughter Taylor, sisters Pattiann Andres (Girard) and Kathy Sauchuk (John), and brother Michael, grandsons Jayden and Dominic and several nieces and nephews. Billy was eagerly awaiting the birth of his granddaughter, Arya.  Billy also leaves behind many loving cousins and friends; he was a popular guy!  He was predeceased by his parents, Norma and William Stoddard, Sr.

Bill loved sports of all kinds and was an avid Miami Dolphins fan. He was a superb golfer and was proud to be Sullivan County Golf Course Club Champion several years ago. He loved spending his Sunday mornings in the fall at the flag football field where he was happy to share his thoughts on the game. Saturday afternoons were spent on the hill watching the Liberty football game. Bill was a member of the NYS Baseball Umpires Assn, NYS Softball Officials Inc. and SOCAT, NYS Track Officials Assn. He enjoyed officiating the Section 9 baseball, softball and track competitions.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date, when we can all once again travel and gather.
