Arvilla Coon

Arvilla Ann Coon was born in Monticello on December 3, 1946 to Jessi and Edith Coon of Spring Glen, New York. She grew up with two sisters and one brother. She was a bit quiet and shy for the most part, spending much of her time inside with her mother in her younger years. Though the family moved around a bit as families do, Arvilla really didn’t change who she was deep down inside. Even though growing up in the 40’s 50’ and 60’s was a great time of change in the country around her. Eventually she married a young man she grew up with and began a family in 1965. Over the next 5 years she had 6 children. 4 boys and 2 girls. Needless to say, Arvilla’s hands were full, but no matter how hard the times were she still did her best to keep things together. In 1977 things changed and the family split apart and she only knew her children from a distance. The years was not so kind to Arvilla as others and she lost all touch with her children. Arvilla continued to work in the commercial cleaning field until she was no longer able to work. She spent many years wondering about her children and never gave up on loving them. After 40 long years of not seeing most of her children. In 2014 one of her children wrote a book using Arvilla’s last name. The book quoted the ultimate modern-day story of Forgiveness got him an invite to NY in September of 2015 where the Families name was restored after his book was put in a museum and bringing the family name back to life after a misprint in the news of the entire family perishing 1n 1966 in a structure fire. Regardless of what people say god was at work in Arvilla’s life. Her youngest son reconnected with all his siblings and in 2016 Arvilla was reconnected with her children. Her son presented his mother with the book. She was proud of her son and told him. He in turn told her she was the reason he was able to do it because she gave him the words and music a long time ago and never forgot the love. Arvilla’s long wait had finally arrived as well as her children's long wait. Sadly 5 years later here we are. She left us on October 10, 2021 just days after her youngest sons birthday do to medical complications. Arvilla will be missed by all because she touched so many lives from her parents, her siblings, her children, her grand children, nieces and nephews complete strangers and even some of the staff at Roscoe Nursing Home.  Yet she will never be forgotten!  Arvilla is survived by her sister Gloria of Virginia, Her children – Patricia – Veronica – Vernon – John – Jessie – Jim. 17 grand children – 10 great grand children and several nieces and nephews.
