Elizabeth Sherwood

Elizabeth H. McAdams Sherwood of Roscoe, NY, lifelong area resident, entered eternal rest after a yearlong battle with cancer on January 21, 2021 at her home.  She was 82.

The daughter of the late Charles and Ruby Gorr McAdams, she was born March 3, 1938 in Livingston Manor, NY.

Elizabeth had worked for 34 years in the Roscoe Community Nursing Home in the housekeeping department; she retired for three years and then went back to work as a part time bus aide.  She was a loving, sweet and hard working woman.

Survivors include her long time companion and recent husband, James J. Atkins, at home; one son, Arnold (Doreen) Sherwood of Roscoe, NY; one daughter, Sandy O’Dell and her fiancé Brad of Roscoe, NY; one step daughter, Polly (Paul) Philips of White Lake, NY; one sister, Leila McAdams; two brothers, Aaron (Ginny) McAdams of McColl, SC and Aquila (Diane) McAdams of Elmira, NY; many grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sons, John L. Sherwood and Donald J. Sherwood; three step sons, William Paul, Orsal Thomas and Merton L.; one step daughter, Ruth Sherwood; and three brothers, Chares “Buck”, Rex and Joel McAdams.

Funeral services will be private.
