Jonathan Benton

Jonathan J. “Biscuit” Benton of Liberty, NY, a heavy equipment operator for the Town of Liberty and a lifelong area resident died Friday, December 31, 2021 at his home.  He was 60.

The son of the late Richard A. and Sydney Rappaport Benton, he was born August 4, 1961 in Liberty, NY.

Biscuit enjoyed riding motorcycles and snowmobiles; he loved to hunt and was a long time member of the Covered Bridge Hunting Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Marissa Benton and her companion Jonathan McGibbon of Youngsville, NY and Jessica Benton of Jeffersonville, NY; one grandson, Noah Benton; his niece, Brittany Gorr and her husband Jake of Livingston Manor, NY; his aunt and uncle, Myra and Harry Morse of Conway, SC, his cousin Rori Morse of Raleigh, NC, his aunts, Brenda Benton, and Debbie Benton of Liberty, NY; his uncle, Robert Benton and his wife Sherri of Liberty, NY; and several cousins.

He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Leigh “Bubs” Benton and Benjamin Benton; and one sister, Stacey Benton.

Graveside services and burial will be Wednesday, January 5, 2022 at 1 PM at the Laurel Hill Cemetery, White Sulphur Springs, NY.  The Rev. Bridgette LeConey will officiate.

Memorial contributions in his name may be made to Catskill Animal Rescue Inc, 263 Old Monticello Road, Ferndale, NY 12734.
