Viola Dimarzio

Viola K. DiMarzio of Monticello, NY, a retired teacher for Monticello Central School District and a life long area resident, died Thursday, February 17, 2022 at the Delaware Valley Skilled Nursing and Rehab. Facility, Matamoras, PA.  She was 93.

The daughter of the late Edward J. Sr. and Mildred Hathaway Katz, she was born June 26, 1928 in Liberty, NY.

She was a graduate of Liberty High School and Cortland State Teacher’s College; she taught four years in the Roscoe School District and worked with the Girls Scouts for many years.  Viola then substituted for five years in the Monticello School District and was hired as a teacher for the remainder of her time there; and also taught CCD for two years at St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church in Monticello.  She had been a communicant of St. Peter’s Church, Liberty, NY.

She is survived by her children, Marina Nolan, Diana DiMarzio, Andrea Calo, Angela Curtis, Marisa Heisler and her husband Tim, Regina Nadal and her husband Gerard, John E. DiMarzio and Darren DiMarzio; her brother, Lawrence Katz; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers’ Edward Katz and Joseph Katz and sons-in -law: Tom Nolan, Joe Calo, Gurney Curtis and Edward Edwards.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated Thursday February 24, 2022 at 11 AM in St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Liberty, NY.

Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Liberty, at a date to be determined later.

Memorial contributions in Viola’s name may be made to Roscoe Central School District, Monticello Central School District, St. Peter’s Church in Liberty or St. Peter’s Church in Monticello.
